Even when clueless, Lacey had a dignity that endeared her to all.

thanks for the correction in Yesterday’s column Margueritem. I answered it there also, a bit late-ish.

DON’T go there, Gram.

Lacey was the cool granny that several of GT’s readers never had, she is greatlly missed. And its great to have her back, even in flashback mode.
Susan001 said, 11 months ago
Lacey was cool, but a granny? She seemed just too tough and independent to be a granny.

Well said wndrwrthg, especially when compared to today’s version of clueless pols

Marg and Gweedo Thanks for saying something nicely. :-] I am a native American. Gweedo, My primary language are American Sign Language and English as my second language. Both are much different. I changed my avatar because Gweedo thought that my Siamese cat was kind of kitty and my screen name was horse. Well, two reasons for my screen name are wild mustangs that are so many in NV and my car “Ford Mustang.” As you read or heard about the wild horses that will be euthanasized in NV. I think that must be outrageously ridiculous. :-[

Wildmustang, I love your new mustang avatar. I thank the person that wrote yesterday and explained more about ASL. I learned a lot.
I’ve heard about the wild horse killings, and I hate the thought of it.

Gweedo, I did see your second post and I see that Wildmustang took your advice about his avatar. Thanks for sticking up for him yesterday.

You’re welcome Marg. Some people have bad grammar/spelling that makes ya wanna slap ‘em, until you know the reason why.
Wildmustang I thought that other pony looked familiar ala Ford fame. I can see that this guy is outstanding in his field. I saw a program on a cable channel a few years back where a guy had captured wild horses in a corral and was demonstrating the horse whispering technique. The horse calmed down pretty quick. What is BLM’s rationale for killing the horses anyway ? Are they outstripping their food supply as what happens with other creatures when their numbers go unchecked due to lack of natural predation ? BUT, rest assured, there are plenty of people who enjoy shooting moving “targets” especially when it’s “legal”.
I wasn’t trying to denigrate the cat logo as I’m sure you know, it’s just that some names/avatars are intrinsically linked and it makes sense to maintain the continuity. Like Marg has demonstrated, holiday shifts are necessarily in good taste.
As Prince said in the Red Corvette song:
”Let the horses run free.”

Yes, Palin is still Clueless. She Pardoned a Turkey as others were being slaughtered behind her.
Watch for Tina Fey to re-enact this on SNL Tonight.

Wildmustang: Love both reasons for your avatar. Been trained as Ameslan translator, having a brother-in-law with a hearing handicap, and now many friends with the same. Bear with the foolish detractors, as they may feel justified. Once had issues with another e-mailer who neglected to capitolize ‘America’ and being in a patriotic moment, called him on it. He was called ‘Lefty’ because he lost his right arm in a motorcycle accident, and could therefore not press the ‘shift’ key and the ‘A’ key at the same time. WOW was that embarrassing when explained to me. Hang in there, girl, and when you get angry at these folks, think about the sign word for a$$hole, and laugh.

Hi Bob. The stang is a guy. I goofed it too.
Bob said, 11 months ago
MUSTANG… OK! Facts misleading re: gender. Complete apology. Nothing changes about my previous post except to substitute ‘dude’ for ‘girl’.

You fool! America has geen capitolized since the First Continental Congress met in Philadelphia. You blistering simpleton, not to know the difference between ‘capitolize’ and ‘capitalize’. Any moron… etc. etc. etc.
<heavy sarcasm off>
Bob, thanks for being the teacher in the moment. Wildmustang, pay no attention to the pompous flamers. Over at Pibgorn, our revered Brooke McEldowney has commented numerous times over the years about the vitriolic hate mail he gets from readers should he ever deign to misplace a comma. In his Livejournal entry of August 17th, he stated (speaking of an unintentional mis-spelling):
“Some notes, however, contained abuse – thrilled, giddy, sneering, inevitable. Whenever I find an error in my published work, I tense my muscles and wait for the first petard from the reader who feels he has just hit the mother lode. I never understand the gratification this produces, but it is an undeniable phenomenon: abuse, sometimes ferocious, fulminating, cackling. It clearly purges somebody’s soul.”
So you see, you are clearly in good company!

Don’t be too hard on those who are critical of grammatical errors. On the AOL news message boards, there are thousands of threads from stupid, bigoted trolls, mostly teens and tweens. Their grammar and spelling are atrcious. Perhaps the critics believe some of these same trolls are messaging here, too. It’s easy to fall into that trap, before the truth comes out.
On the whole, the GoComics messages are quite intelligent–STATE OF THE UNION notwithstanding.
Gweedo Murray said, 11 months ago
