Er, um, it kinda, nudge nuge wink wink, looks like, ahem, the lions are, shall we say, engaged in other activities at the moment… and that the sheep are the only ones lacking the good sense not to watch… although I’m sure that wasn’t the intent…

speaking of this fairytale story, did noah gather male and female of EVERY species of mammal? .thats a pretty tall order and the arc would have have to have been a lot larger than an aircraft carrier….how about the mammals that were only native to areas of the earth that noah had no access to?
you know, kangaroos , pandas, lemurs ???
and yet we have people who are searching for this boat….

Well, what do you think happened to the unicorns?? They were on the menu LAST week!
pinkdryad said, 5 months ago
@nighthawks: um, that’s why Noah probably brought babies. And according to Genesis chapter 7 verses 8 & 9 : “Pairs of clean and unclean animals, of birds and of all creatures that move along the ground, male and female, came to Noah and entered the ark, as God had commanded Noah.” God brought the animals to Noah, he didn’t have to go searching for them.

Nighthawks: First, it was “kinds,” not what we today somewhat arbitrarily call “species.” There were not both lions & tigers, for example, but one kind of cat that both eventually came from (kind of like breeds of dog).
Plus, since the geography of the earth was totally different before everything got wiped out, Noah didn’t have to deal with animals all the way from Australia, China, etc.
Based on an accurate understanding of the whole story, the animals-on-the-Ark scenario has been found to be quite feasible. If you choose to believe it didn’t happen, at least don’t do so based on modern misconceptions.
I don’t think anyone will ever find the boat, though; it was probably broken up before long. There’s no verse about it saying “It can be seen there to this day” like you see in the OT a lot.

so they evolved into the animals we have today? LOL!!!!
Actually the misconceptions are not modern but biblical. The myth we know as Noah and the Ark has already been explained. I was told about it by several clerymen years and years ago and then I saw it on one of the Discovery channels. The flood was not the entire world…..it was the world in which the writers of the Bible lived. That was all the world they knew at that time. So it was their misconception that the flood covered the entire world.

Pookid54: Actually “devolved” might be a better word. Contrary to what you’ve apparently been told, nobody denies there is change; there just isn’t change that creates brand new things. But that’s another story.
And it’s amusing that anyone would be satisfied with such a pat, made-up & non-researched explanation as you quote. Just for a start, if the flood was only the area in which the writers lived, why do cultures from literally all around the world have flood legends containing most or all elements of the Bible story?

Yeah, made up…..not researched….whatever….and they lived happily ever after.

pookid-
Some people believe the Bible, and some believe the Discovery Channel.
Like plus4 said, several cultures have flood stories, including ones that pre-date the Biblical account.
You might as well ask whether Santa Clause is real - the character may not exist, yet Xmas gifts get delivered every year…

I would believe the Bible before the Discovery cnannel.

Ewe. Ewe is on the menu.

pookid54: why would God have told Noah to build an ark to save himself, his family and the animals if it was a local flood or only covered the “known world” of the author? Why not just tell Noah to move?
like wicky said, you can believe the Bible way more than the Discovery channel.
