I have mixed emotions about this one.
On one hand I do hope it works. He is the chief and this is what he wants to do and it is not the wrong thing to do.
On the other hand Smiling JimmyObama has no back bone! If he has the stones to pull it off well I will be impressed.
Greetings oldie! I thought you’d still be slogging through old Pibgorn comics and not have time for the political panels.
Leaders are supposed to get the troops into the best positions to do their jobs. Obama knows that the military is only part of the solution. Going out front and getting shot won’t get the mission completed.
That he’s looking at solutions beyond just more guns and missiles is a step forward. That he wasn’t of an age to “serve” in the military, he did “serve” in public service. For those who claim he should have been in the military, what of those who never served (like Perle/Wolfowitz/Feith) or with “deferments”(Cheney), or who fled from even National Guard service who got us into this mess in the first place? As this is from Canada, it might do well to review how many our neighbors to the north have lost in this “conflict” as well.
Obama knows that military force alone will not get the job done. Diplomacy and a program to improve conditions there, are also very necessary. The Afghan people have always repelled invaders so we must not be invaders.
