Jan Eliot's funny and irreverent Stone Soup follows the saga of an extended, blended family, starring two working-mom sisters living just across the fence from each other. Val and Joan share life with their opinionated mother, a middle-school diva and 10-year-old tomboy, a reclusive teenage boy, a wild preschooler and his new baby sister...and of course Wally, the ultimate nice guy who steps into his stepdad shoes with grace amid the chaos. Working-parent hassles, pre-school tantrums, middle-school angst, love and the single mom... it's all here in Stone Soup.

Someone is yanking someone’s chain…

This is clearly payback for something Val did when she was a teenager.

Think about it: would you want to fly to Thailand just to stay three weeks?

Making a daughter been wee bit too dependent on her ye olde mom take notice.

Some single mom’s have it hard and some do not have their mom’s helping. Val will realize have valued her mom really is. When my kids where little my parents only took care of them occasionally and they did not live with us.

Yep, this will teach her not to take her mother for granted.

I think Val has a pretty good idea how much grama helps out. Give a woman a chance to yank the chain and she’ll take it every time LOL

Why is everyone assuming Val is taking her mother’s help for granted? Does she have to remind everyone each time her mother helps out, that she really appreciates it?

a flight trip to Thailand isn’t all THAT far - 3 weeks is fine with me.
