   Pib: Whoa! So Pib has Dru’s hair and ear(s), and got smacked by that 8 again? In mid-word! Looks like there’s some really weird mix-n-match going on between Pib and Dru.

   9CL: It’s just a sorta neutral greeting - sort of like “Hello, there” or “Bonjour” as you pass…

   No - that looks like Dru (in Pib’s plumage); got Dru’s almost lantern jaw, cheekbones and lashes.

   Maybe it’s something like what happened to them in Suzerain … which also involved vampire-style neck biting…

    Dru’s comment about needing to get “back to the beginning”, combined with the 8, makes me think the poster a few days who observed that we’re coming up on the eighth anniversary of the launch of “Pibgorn” as a more-or-less daily strip was on to something.

    The most I dare say for 8 is that it appears to serve as a portal for shifting place/time/persona in the Dreamscape. This time around Drusilla is retaining some degree of self-awareness and control over herself, in contrast to what occurred at the outset of the recent Volcano arc.

    Grüß Gott The posts up there seem to be correct, however there was part of a blurb indicating that it was also used as a goodbye in some parts, such as Austria, where I believe he was from.
    
    My understanding was he was trying to say goodbye to her because something bad was about to happen to him.

    One thing nobody has mentioned is that the character in panel 2 (who to me is obviously Dru) has a much heftier body than Pib in panel 3. This has always been the way they have been drawn. Dru is a real, full-figured woman. (In case I have expressed this badly, I do not mean that she is too heavy - not at all - I see her as voluptuous.) Pib is, say, a half-grown girl.

    Does anyone else agree with me?

    And in panel 2, you have Dru’s hair, ears, and body, but Pib’s costume and wings. Seems to me that somehow Dru has to go thru this merging step, before emerging as herself, in her own costume, with no wings. Have I left anything out?

    @Trellowyn01 Props for your deduction, but “Grüß Gott” is never used as an Abschiedsgrüß. The corresponding “goodbye”, at least in Austria, is “Pfiati!”, a mashup of “Führt dich Gott,” or “May God lead you.”

    One sometimes hears the full form, as in “Grüß dich Gott”.

    Well, i wouldn’t say Pib is “half-grown” - more that she’s a Diana Rigg type, slender and athletic, rather than a Lucy Lawless type.

    Rigg compiled a book of “killer” reviews, called No Turn Unstoned, and included one from her Broadway run in a play that had a nude scene (about 1968 or ‘67, when she would have been just about thirty). She said that after she read it she sort of slunk into the theatre for the matinée, hoping nobody would see her, and hid out in her dressing room until she had to come out.

    The review? Well, it included the phrase “… Diana Rigg, who is built like a brick cathedral with insufficient flying buttresses …”

    I don’t think the “8” is so much curved as seen in slight perspective - as if the surface it were on is turned thirty or forty-five degrees away from us, with the diagonal clipping due to panel border adding an impression of curvature.

    While the East Coast looks forward to another foot or so of snow, Chicagoland is about to get its very own dose: the predictions started a few days back at “up to 6 inches” and now stand at “10 to 14 inches” by Wednesday (so far, as I glance out the window, there is just a light cover on the street)….

    I quit liking snow much when a weather system stalled for three weeks in January 1993 over Oregon. It deposited 96 inches of snow in Kfalls over those 3 weeks. It started snowing and literally didn’t stop for 3 weeks until that system moved. Couldn’t go anywhere because only the highways and the most major streets had any plowing at all. Walking to the grocery was a drag. Had to go more than a mile and it was… interesting… and whatever one bought had to be something that one could carry and that wouldn’t be affected by 20 minutes in 25 degrees or so.

    I got confused one way, looked back at the 2 previous installments, and am now confused in another way.
    Specifically; at first, I was trying to figure out how the dream sequence got shifted from a foggy night to a sunny meadow, and I thought that the “Sylvia” on the ground was Dru, just like Dru is the one on the ground back in the waking world.
    Okay, there’s been a switch from the dream to the sunny meadow. Got it. Now I’m trying to figure out why what I figure is Dru zapping herself back to being awake is covered (colored?) in Pib’s green rather than her regular black-with-red-highlights scales ….

    Not any too good on His followers, either. Called “haters”, “fuddyduddies” and pretty much everything else you can imagine for acting in love and for not wanting people to hurt themselves. Called “unhip” and “not with it”, some years later “biased”, “closed-minded” and most recently “bigots” for not compromising on the truth. Etc., ad nauseum.
