The only thing making our auto industry unprofitable was paying poor to terrible managers salaries and bonuses 500 times the pay and benefits going to the “average” worker. (While replacing workers with robots, or shipping manufacturing overseas so they could get even BIGGER bonuses!)

Um, GM built trucks for Germany leading up to WWII… Germany ran the GM factories, but never nationalized them, because GM was too busy salivating over the war manufacturing profits… Only after the US entered the war did GM stop supporting the Nazis…
