Yes, I know this is JUST A COMIC STRIP. The word “Eat” in the title has no connection with the strip’s characters.
But, Sophie is like a bully who has a patsy for a friend. Sometimes, a bully’s friend won’t stand up to him, but, will bully other people because the bully told him, too.
Sophie picks on Doug more often than when she is acting like she is his friend
If a dog’s year equals 7 human years and Sophie is still a puppy, how old is she in human years?
If she were allowed to grow up, she wouldn’t have a problem of jumping up onto the slide’s platform and not even have to attempt to climb up the slide’s ramp.
Hey Joe! Just like ‘human years’ and ‘dog years’ reflect different time scales, I think ‘comic strip years’ are also different - the scale is different and it is not necessarily linear. And they are different from one strip to the next strip - not all of them follow the same ‘comic strip years’ algorithm. Just because you see one strip today and one strip tomorrow does not mean that 1 human day has elapsed in the strip’s ‘comic strip years’. It is very complex, but it is what allows a strip to stay in its time for as long as it wants or to move forward whenever it wants. At least that is how Snooopy explained it to me a long time ago!
A person could create a comic strip and call it “It’s a Dog Eat Dog World” and it only have human beings in it, it would just refer to how tough life is for humans.
Mr. Anderson might have decided to alter that sentence slightly and include a real dog.
I read the “Buckles” comic strip every day and he is a dog who talks to humans in English out loud and he talks to the anmals outside in the yard, too.
Babies and puppies are both quite cute, but underneath the soft, cuddly exteriors lie the fearsome hearts of competitors. Well, not really. When a new baby joins the household, Sophie the dog is initially irritated, but eventually comes to see the baby, Doug, as the asset he is: a better way to get snacks. Though the baby is still hogging precious attention, and has a tendency to pull ears and be a general nuisance, a begrudging friendship forms between the two rivals. Watch the mischief unfold in Brian Anderson’s Dog Eat Doug.

Sorry Sophie, you have to use the ladder if you want gravity to take its course.

That’s okay, Sophie, as long as you don’t wander off to “C’est la vie.”

I also read Buckles. I wish all of my strips were here since you can comment here. But I read them from four different sites.
