Mark, I have been to two different drive-thru safari parks, one in Irvine, CA (Lion Country Safari – not there anymore) and one in Winston, OR. Yesterday’s was walk-thru only. We did manage to freak out Blaze. We tracked some of the smells back into the RV and he’s been very skittish ever since.
Today’s leg was all on the 101 Hwy through the redwoods. Some of it was pretty hairy, but it was a nice drive. We stopped at a turnout to fix lunch, then took a walk. We played “boy scout” and picked up the trash in the turnout while we were there. Good exercise. We are at the Russian River for a few days, during which time we hope to check out some of the local wineries. Michael tripped on an uneven bit of sidewalk outside of the lodge here, and he tore up his leg pretty will landing in the gravel. He’s okay, but he’ll be uncomfortable for a while.
The weather here is in the mid 80’s and will be for the time we are here, with overnight lows in the mid 50’s. It’s really nice in the shade though. We have a pretty well shaded campsite.
Pinto has figured out another way to escape the RV. The screen door has a panel which is closed when the main door is open, and open to access the handles of the main door when it is closed. I left the panel open the other day while I was standing outside, and he managed to squeeze his body out that hole. He’s a stubborn little brat, too. Hard to catch when he doesn’t want to.
Good afternoon, Vagabonds.
