Good morning, Vagabonds

Always remember, We are not vagabonds. We are a People, and we deserve a capital “V” in our name.

Good morning all.
For some reason Adam@home keeps taking this down!
I tried to put it up on Sunday, February 24, but the longest it stayed up was less than 3 hours. I’m annoyed at that!
Maybe it will stay here.
They are good cookies.
Peanut Butter Cookies
Sift together
1 cup sifted flour
½ teaspoon baking soda (not baking powder)
¼ teaspoon salt
Set aside for the moment
Put into large bowl:
½ cup soft shortening (lard or Crisco vegetable)
½ cup packed brown sugar (use the back of a serving spoon to pack level with the top of the measuring cup.
½ cup (level) white sugar
1 egg, unbeaten
½ cup smooth peanut butter
1 Tablespoon water or lemon juice
½ teaspoon vanilla extract (real only or the taste will be off)
Beat the second list together at about 1/3 speed or use a pastry blender. Scrape down the side of the bowl as necessary using a spatula.
Blend well
Add the flour mixture and blend in (again scraping the bowl as necessary)
Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls onto lightly greased cookie sheets
Press lightly with a floured fork to flatten and ridge the cookies
Chill the raw cookies in the fridge for 15 minutes
Bake at 325° to 350° for 12 to 15 minutes
(Watch closely from the 10 minute mark as they’ll go from done to burnt in the blink of an eye)

@FLORCHI: There will be a Turkish festival at Huizinga Plaza, Ft. Lauderdale on March 16 and 17th. If a friend can get me there, I plan to be there (probably on Saturday). If you go and see someone wearing a tee shirt with the Azerbaijan flag on it – that will be me.

Morning, Village.
Our Gang “The Little Rascals” Trivia –
What famous comedian/actor was the guest star of a silent Our Gang film in 1924?
Florchi said, 3 months ago
@Arye Uygur
Alas, I will be teaching on Sat. the 16th – so not likely I will be able to get to the Turkish festival. However, I did look up an image of the Azerbaijan flag on Google and if I ever run into someone wearing such a tee shirt, I’ll be inclined to say “Hello” and ask “Are you Arye?”

@FLORCHI: gOOD MORNING! wHAT DO YOU TEACH? I may go there on Sunday if the people who take me decide that Sunday is better. I’m also deciding whether to wear my own-designed tee shirt with the Uyghur flag instead. It looks like the Turkish flag, but has a BLUE background instead of a red background.

Burglars do it to locks, but they don’t tell about it in advance.

@Alexikakos
I’m sorry, Alex, but I don’t understand what you’re saying.

@davidf42
If I’m correct, and I think I am, then there is also a very famous insurance company…they would prefer that burglars don’t do it to locks. They would, however, like it if someone did tell them in advance.

Good morning Vagabonds.
David, you mentioned a couple of Jackie Cooper’s old TV shows yesterday and brought back some great memories. On “Hennessy” I remember an episode guest starring Bobby Darin as a young sailor who went AWOL, and he sang “Mac the Knife”. On “People’s Choice”, my favorite character was Clio (the “talking” Basset Hound). Thank you for the memories.

Good Morning, Vagabonds,
Had a successful trip to Great Falls. Did lots of shopping. They practically give away all those winter clothes! i got a really nice $50 red denim jacket for $15. Woo Hoo. I can wear that year round.
Oh, My Mtn Man’s platelet donation went very well. He gave 2 units (it takes about 2 1/2 hours) and so 2 cancer patients will hopefully do well.
Gas prices were 3.15 for 88 octane. Our daughter in So.Cal. just paid 4.30 for gas yesterday! Outrageous!!!

Alex, I’m sorry, but I’m even more confused now. I think the riddle you have yields the word “pick.” But that has nothing to do with the comedian I’m talking about. I did find an insurance agent by that name, but I don’t think it’s all that famous.

Liked that. That’s the sort of thing I might do.
Like your sense of humor. The little things can be the most fun. Sometimes typos aren’t.
