   Good morning, Villagers. Nothing much happened yesterday here in Merida, although it was chilly.. I just relaxed. Only 2 more days before I must return to Florida.

   A group from Flanders (Belgium) are staying in my hotel and are doing a reality show here. My 4th cousin once removed, Aurelian Ringelheim is a movie star in the French (Walonian) part of Belgium, but they never heard of him.

   Do you know what Wales, Walonia (Belgium) and Wallachia (Romania) have in common? The root word for the 3 places is from the designation that the Teutons who invaded the Roman Empire called the Romanized inhabitants of the people they encountered.

   All is quiet on the western front. I took a stroll up where the tree action is. It is so sad to see so many trees gone. But, I know the result is for the best. One thing our tree guy said, is that the mountain lions don’t like wide open spaces…..they can’t hide. So, our deer, elk, etc. can graze peacefully.

   Nice day here today. Upper 40’s, very windy. Nice and warm in the house now that the heating problems are solved. Just waiting for the Patriots and the Ravens game to see who is going to the Super Bowl.
