Phantom – Don’t get me wrong, Democracy is a good thing. But “pure” democracy is dangerous. It demands the rule of the majority at all times. That means that the majority rules at the expense of the minority, or minorities. People who might “think outside the box” are not protected under law and run the risk of serious persecution if they dare to speak their views in public. That’s why the founding fathers in the United States set up a Representative Democracy more closely akin to a Republic, and then created the Bill of Rights to insure that it would work.
