MARY WORTH: I don’t like asparagus either, but I’d never put a damper on the gathering by saying so, at least not that way.

PHANTOM: Looks like we’ll be having another weekend cliffhanger…and will have to wait until at least Monday to see the response to P’s TWEEE-ing.
JUDGE PARKER: Abbey asks Neddy about the money…!
MARK TRAIL: I guess Mark thinks he can do a better job of finding & rescuing Rusty than the police or the FBI. ’

JUDGE PARKER: Could Neddy’s large withdrawals of $$$ be for donations to support Thalia’s NGO?!
CRANKSHAFT: What kind of tree is that, anyway?

Judge Parker – @Florchi, that would be my guess. But $10,000 is a major benefactor. I can’t read Neddy’s expression in the last panel.
A3G – Greg still wants her to come to London?
Rex – We’re learning more. Heather is Sarah’s governess? She would like a child, but her husband Milton is a rich, workaholic and too old. (I’ll bet not as old as Ralph in Sally Forth.)
Phantom – Does he still think he can grab the gun? I can see several disadvantages of that plan. Evan if he gets closer, it’s a bad angle, and the gun might go off.
Crankshaft – A tree that large should have larger roots. It would need something more than a car to lift it, but it’s still a good story.
Sally Forth – Ted knows he ‘s in a comic strip. Maybe he is the cartoonist’s alter-ego.

Mark Trail – I would be more concerned about finding Rusty! If he catches them cheating, does he plan to negotiate for Rusty’s return? But Rusty could be harmed in the meantime.

@Florchi
I think if you go back a few strips Crankshaft makes a comment that the tree is a maple because of the syrup he’s gotten from it and he’s told its another type of tree.

Phantom – How is Kit going to get the baddy with the gun to move closer?
Mark Trail – If Rusty is still alive.
Rex Morgan – I don’t like this “too old” stuff. If he can enjoy watching the child grow up and be willing to share his life with him/her a parent is not “too old.” IMHO
Crankshaft – Impossible physics. But I guess it works in Cartoon Land.
Judge Parker – “In trouble” usually means “pregnant.”

Mark Trail: this has gotten to Mandrake levels of suspending disbelief. I still think a lighted lure would not be legal in fishing competitions.

@davidf42
Judge Parker – I doubt that Abbey is implying that and I don’t think young people use eupehmisms like that any more. She is probably thinking of drugs or gambling.

Mark Trail: Why don’t they concentrate on finding the van. It stands to reason that Rusty must be with it. I agree with Florchi that we should get the police involved.
Mary Worth: Mother certainly is a very disagreeable person. Is there anything she likes?
Phantom: @marvee: You know nothing will happen to P. He will grab either the gun or the arm and pull him against the cage with great force. You know the legend about how fast he is.

@Teh
You are correct. Back on March 8, it is identified as a “buckeye” tree.
JanCinLV said, 2 months ago
Phantom I’ll go out on a limb here and say that he’s “tweeting” for Hero. The horse will come and knock the bad guy into the side of the cage and P will do his thing.
Rex I believe that Heather WAS a governess, but is no longer.
Crankshaft Yanking the tree on a chain like that would just drag it around on the ground. There’s no leverage to raise the top. Also, even if it did get upright, it would just fall over again because there’s no root structure to hold it in place.

Phantom:
@JanCinLV: I think you may be right, why else would he be whistling? It has nothing to do with the lion. I never thought of that.
Florchi said, 2 months ago
PHANTOM: @Jan & woodworker: When I posted the comment below on 3/13, I just assumed that P. was tweee-ing for his horse, Hero. And then on 3/14, I wondered if Devil might also be within earshot of the tweee. Here are my earlier comments:
PHANTOM ON 3/13: " Shortly after P. was placed in the cage, I commented that perhaps an animal – e.g. his horse, – would assist in rescuing him. Hero to the rescue?"
PHANTOM ON 3/8: Oh-oh…Boss Miner is going to wear P’s gun belt! He is doomed!! I am still wondering if the look at Hero a little while ago (see 2/11 strip) foreshadowed the horse’s involvement in P’s rescue.
PHANTOM ON 3/6: What’s next? How will P. & the lioness get out of the cage? Will Hero play a part?
