    Isn’t it just

    GRITS

    that DRY thinks it’s amateurish of us having to deal with multiple car accidents resulting in deaths, traffic backups stranding motorists for 7 hours, thousands of people without power, some dying from carbon monoxide poisoning while trying to stay warm, tens of millions of dollars in damage and all among a terrain that make the hills of Pennsylvania pale in comparison. I call it a lousy and insensitive thing to say and will consider her future remarks like the way they were back in the blissful days when I couldn’t see them. Shame on me for standing up and trying to get her reinstated. With that, I am GONE.

    good morning and happy monday locos I took a peek at our upcoming weather. On Friday, only supposed to be a rain on Tuesday Night and Wednesday. Yesterday we got a winter weather watch issued and they are saying snow Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. I guess we see if we learned anything from last time. Duke I hope you’re not really gone.

    Wow, your weather is considerably worse than ours. It is drizzling here and this is the first precipitation that we have had this month yet.

    Oh really, I was joking as what I heard on the weather in your area was no more than what we have had over and over for several years here. How many hurricanes have you been through? How many times was your basement flooded, or better yet your home? Or your porch collapsed and awnings and windows broken? Trees blown over on the house, And that is mild compared to what so many others have gone through. How many blizzards, and I mean BLIZZARDS real blizzards has Portland had? My boss’s daughter lives out there and it didn’t faze them one bit because people who come from this area are used to It. Sorry if you took offense to what I said, but you do tend to take things way more serious than the person intends them to be. Must be the German in you. And since you made light of the whole thing to begin with, and I quote,

    WOOHOO! We made the national news!

    how would you interpret it? Seemed like you made light of it, and I don’t really follow your weather. Have my own to worry about!

    @Dry and Dusty

    I saw a video of the snow at the Portland Airport an d the snow mixed with the wind made it look pretty rough as well as the freeway. Out here we usually do not gestation of snow in lower elevations, so between lack of snowplows and the snow and slush can be a real nightmare when you get war ups during the day and freezing overnight. When I lived in ND we got endless big storms in the winter, but the roads never saw much warming up to above freezing so the snow and ice would build up and flat terrain made driving easier. Plus everybody know how to drive in snow in the Midwest. Here I get nervous when I have to drive because there are so many people operate a vehicle without a clue on how to drive in winter conditions. Years ago a woman hit me headon in a 4×4 that she bought the day before. She thought it made her impervious to slippery conditions.

    We have storms here that qualify WELL PAST hurricane force but we don’t WHINE about it. WHAT PART OF PEOPLE HAVE DIED DID YOU MISS. I TAKE THAT VERY SERIOUSLY. SORRY YOU DON’T. AND YOU WANT TO COMPARE NOTES ON FLOODING REALLY?? DON’T EVEN BOTHER TO RESPOND BECAUSE I WILL BE SKIPPING OVER ALL OF YOUR FUTURE POSTS, MS. SENSITIVITY.

    It’s not worth responding to. You went off the deep end. Took what I said last night and twisted it ALL OUT OF PROPORTION! And your link didn’t work by the way. I did see the 50 years ago in the type, we’ve never had historic deadly storms ever, (sarcasm).

    I was fortunate to still be living in North Dakota during that storm, but it is still strong in the memories of all those who lived here.

    DUKE, I am sure that DRY said that in jest. Surely no one is competing for the most deaths by snow and ice. I hope you don’t mean what you say about leaving.

    I think this winter has been the worst, and CLEO has a point that when the weather is not normal for the area, it has a greater impact.
    I too was confused by the celebratory nature of announcing the weather made the news, but I know you didn’t mean it to look like that.
    Having survived the ice storm here at Christmas which also claimed lives in the area, I can appreciate how you feel out west. This was way above what our city has ever had happen in decades.
