   Well, we’ll (royal) just have to ignore that ban too! Breakfast is, after all, the most important meal of the day. :-)

   Published by the egg marketing boards of all ten provinces and the federal government of Canada.
   
   French Toast Sandwich
   
   4 slices French bread 1-inch (2.5 cm) thick 4
   1/4 cup raspberry or your favourite preserves 50ml
   3 eggs 3
   1/3 cup milk 75 ml
   1/2 tsp vanilla 2ml
   1 tbsp butter or margarine 15 ml
   1 tbsp Icing sugar 15 ml
   
   1. Cut each bread slice almost into two, leaving bottom intact.
   Open slice and spread jam in centre; close.
   2. In small bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla; pour into pie plate or flat soup bowl.
   3. In large skillet, melt one-fourth of the butter over medium heat; spread to coat bottom of pan.
   4. Dip both sides of “sandwich” in egg mixture; place in skillet. Cook until lightly browned; turn over and cook other side.
   5. Transfer sandwich to serving plate and sprinkle lightly with icing sugar.
   Repeat with remaining sandwiches (or cook all together).
   
   Makes 4 servings. Preparation time: 5 minutes Cook Time: 4 minutes per sandwich
   
   Notes from me: The milk would be whole milk 1% 2% etc. weren’t available at the time. (1993 by the designation)
   Use real vanilla extract not artificial (they do taste differently)
   I don’t know why the quotes are around the word sandwich in instruction 4 but they’re there in the recipe.

   JFri I’m a bit jealous of the weather you’re having out there, but the snow storm has left here, and the mercury is just going up and up.

   Good morning Locos! Today’s expected high is to be 53! And stay that way all week! There is a birthday today! Barbie was born on this day in 1959. Do you know, I still have my original Barbie? I hear she’s worth a few hundred dollars now. And she’s in good shape, too, but I don’t have the original box anymore.

    If someone wants to mow the grass, they can come and do mine. Of course they’ll have to shovel off half a meter of snow first.
