   On this day in 1812, the U.S. congress declared war on Great Britain. Not to put too fine a point on it; Canada still exists.
   Three years later, in 1815, Napoleon’s army was defeated at Waterloo.

   Here is a recipe for Koshary. Koshary is, apparently, a popular “street food” in Egypt and as holidays usually mean taking to the streets I thought it fit the bill.
