I speculated yesterday that Piotr may want to escape the colony. I don’t think he likes it here.
Many puzzling clues – that may not even be clues.
Piotr was “selected” to invite Sarah to the colony. While he talks a great talk, all have doubted his sincerity.
Would the fearless leader have chosen Piotr to invite Sarah, if he knew just how horrible a picture he would paint of the colony?
Piotr admits their colony “has problems.” Problem is, he has yet to show Sarah anything good about the colony.
Hence, I am starting to believe Piotr wants out.
Sarah. Now she’s a lizard of another color. (Couldn’t help that one)
Her comments today: Is she “buying into” Piotr’s narrative?
Or is she being her usual sarcastic self?

With all due respect, Mexico does manufacture things. In fact, one of the more aggravating things for those of us in American manufacturing is that many of the plants we used to work in have been moved to Mexico.

Yes and no, whomever built up Endtown made certain that it had a lot more resources to begin with. Some parties, like Prof Mallard, are able to use stockpiled raw materials to make things. Doc Chase has noted that medicine is in short supply and while they do make the vitamin cake down below, Endtown is still dependent on canned goods found in foraging missions. Not to say your point isn’t valid. I have yet to hear of Endtown resorting to banditry, or colony raiding.

Sarah is studying Piotr and this system to see if it fits her prerogatives.
He is trying to sell this colony to her as they need members, especially others of their kind.
This is one of the big differences between the Topsiders (who are basically unified) and the Mutant colonies which have a very loose association and little cooperation. The colonies are all in competition for stuff, any stuff like Piotr pointed out. This lizard colony uses “enhanced” methods, Albion West used bartering, what do you have in trade probably. Endtown uses a form of banditry. They would bring you in and your stuff was confiscated as needed by the Security.
However a difference with this colony versus Albion or Endtown is this colony takes your stuff then boots you out which was probably their plan all along till Wally kicked Phil’s ass. Now Jim, Wally, Holly will not be allowed to leave until things have been taken care of.
The surface has been scavenged over for 6 years, supplies are gone, the population is increasing. Its going to one day come to a point where the colonies are either going to work together to defeat the Topsiders or one by one they will die out including Topsiders.
Topsiders believe if they destroy all the mutants the mutating virus will go away. From past stories they have hit it Amesworth Zero bombs destroying the land and cities and the virus shows no sign of being any less virulent. One of the things mentioned in Endtown is that scavenging trips on the surface were taking many months to complete. This would mean the scavengers had to go further out into the world to find things. Then if they found things they would have to pack it all back. What took days in the early parts of this now are taking many months.
Time is running out for this Reality.
It cannot continue the way it is going indefinitely.
    A breaking point is coming.
This story is just one of the crumbling blocks of this reality.

Endtown has Mallard and a few scientists. Reptilatown apparently doesn’t. This may have been the one fatal flaw in their decision to turn into a one-species colony – the scientists and engineers were every species but reptile. The question becomes, though, “Where’d they get the dittos from? And why don’t the reptiles use the dittos to raid other colonies?”

Well, he’s got a point there, and to be fair, with the world being the mess it is, there are far worse things they could be doing than banditry…if anything, they’re probably holding back, considering their position, so I’ll give the lizards that much.

What about the fact that the mutants seem to heal quickly?? ( Holly’s arm for one) Why would they need medicine? Shouldn’t Chic and the bully cook be healed by now?? I’m so confused!

Only Topsiders are aware of the quick healing. Mutants have a mental block about it, which seems to be designed into the mutagen. After their transformations, Jim and Sarah have already forgotten about mutants’ healing ability. They can be reminded, but it slips their minds again.
