Ah. Here it is this morning.
    #
We may live in a post-apocalyptic world, and all be mutant lizards now, but, what the hey, we still know what the cliche phrase “throw me under the bus” means…

    The facade behind the facade.
Billy Joel would be welcome here.

I should hope so, given the Apocalypse wasn’t all that long ago.

Just put out the right story: Wally didn’t best just any Reptilian, he bested Phil—-I doubt if Phil has endeared himself to that many of them.
    #
But that does leave the question: why was Chic put in the kitchen under Phil?

“Give me a chance” does not sound like a fair fight to me. Also how could they know about the dittos?

So Phil’s hobby of beating on smaller residents isn’t condoned?

    So…
    .
    Not all lizards are bad.
    .
And perhaps this lizard colony isn’t so bad, after all.

I get the feeling Chic might be the leader’s son.

Tough being the cook….when you really want to be the leader.
Sounds like a good place for

When he was explaining the colony to Sarah, Piotr explained the one mutation only policy in terms of “one in body, one in mind”. That external conformity would be the most certain road to harmony. The rift between Phil and the leader suggests we have more of a “one in body, many in mind” situation. Some folks, like Mr. Pepper, follow the official line. The treating mutants as second class citizens is an act to make them feel unwelcome and get them to leave. Phil is suggesting that there are others, like him, who sincerely believe the whole “reptilian supremacy” thing. The question is, are there enough to force the fearless leader’s hand?

Looks like the gang walked out of one political snafu only to walk right into another. So much for getting away from it all.

You’re assuming too much. Piotr never used “one in body, one in mind”. His explanation was more of “it’s harder to fight over differences if there are fewer differences”. Doesn’t mean that people can’t still find something to fight over if they try hard enough.

    Happens in any society.
Sometimes its the fewer differences that can cause the most rift in a society.
Piotr accepts his position and point of view much like a Topsider accolade would accept theirs. That is what to me seemed to upset Sarah. Same style of community she was trying to escape. Do the job we assign to you and serve, no exceptions except to those “special” ones. Sarah did not seem to like that idea very much.
Phil was probably assigned that job to keep him in the place the leader (or group) wanted him to be in. I would imagine there are reasons for that. He wants more power but this leader is in his way and probably holding him back. That is why I think he would pick to fight the cat. Get his self esteem back and prove himself superior even making a power grab over the colony. Just instead of rigging the council like Jacob use a trial by combat or some show to seize the colony.
