    “You smell that? Do you smell that? Napalm, son. Nothing else in the world smells like that. I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed, for 12 hours. When it was all over, I walked up. We didn’t find one of ‘em, not one stinkin’ dink body. The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like . . . victory. Someday this war’s gonna end.”

    Looks like those responsible think that they’ve contained the infection by blasting it, not knowing that two carriers have just escaped.

    A bomb. Wonder how long it took for the authorities to think of that?

    ‘No, not a bu, a bomb!’

    @Simcha-Yitzchak Lerner:

    And if so, those responsible really don’t know much about disease vectors for people who presumably work on that sort of thing. “Yes, let’s take this airborne illness which seems to have a 100% infection rate and blow a known carrier into small bits while simultaneously creating a thermal to lift any spare microbes into the upper atmosphere so they can travel as far as possible. That will contain it for sure.”

    We know his name; we don’t know hers
    That seems just what A.N. prefers
    So this is one side’s story only
    Of Holly’s early times so lonely

    Of how they got away from doom
    And how they’d thought to give it room
    Her once-filled heart will soon be hollowed
    As dooms they left behind have followed…

    Oops. Not that they’ve SEEN the monster, and been in physical CONTACT with it…
    Remember how ruthless Apex is?
    This couple of witnesses will be followed up, and I don’t give much for their chances.

    I think this series of the strip should be called “In The Beginning.”

    Now enter the Apex black helicopter conspiracy theory. I don’t think of this as a prequel as much as maybe Holly is reflecting back into her human past

    Not a bomb. Critical energy from the three beams from the helicopters crossing. Total protonic reversal. Someone saw something strange in the neighborhood.
