That attitude is way too prevalent in the military.

There’s a manual for breaking out of a stuck elevator?

Its a notebook. Wally’s designing their way out of this mess, just like he designed that catapult that saved Allie and Leo.

That’s his engineering notebook. It’s something we haven’t seen since Wally first appeared in the story.

Evidently the hole is big enough for the grenade to go through. Time for speculating. I am guessing he will hang it low enough to weaken the floor but not too close to jar the elevator free.

Not a horrible attitude given some situations.

Ok – this is a totally uneducated guess – please don’t beat me up too badly. I can almost see Wally dropping the grenade down the hole and the resultant explosion rocketing the elevator up the shaft.

Let’s see. My guess is these “elevators” work on compressed air. Increasing the pressure under the pod pushes it upward and expands a telescoping shaft. Releasing the pressure lowers the pod and collapses the shaft. Wally cut a hole in the floor and the pressure in the pod went up slightly (Holly’s ears popped). If Wally dropped that grenade through the hole, they are probably high enough that it would explode before reaching the bottom. The resulting overpressure might propel them the rest of the way to the surface (if they are relatively close). Intriguing possibilities abound… ;-)

Yeah, if only he hadn’t mentioned that thing about the “shaft being capped off”…

    Yeah, notebook time!
Wally, you’re not notebooking good enough! Notebook harder!

I was figuring on something similar to that. My engineer mind wonders if any grenade would have enough explosive force to blow the elevator up through the powder. I would also wonder what would happen once the explosive gasses cooled and the pressure (and possibly the elevator) would drop. Good thing Aaron’s a genius and not an engineer.
