I am a little sick to my stomach. It is because I lived 5 years with adult abuse. It is easy for them to make you think and do what THEY want. Room , food, my car, my credit card and that my faithful friends were shoved away. I was very close to suicide. My sister rescued me in one month had moved me to another city, a home of my own, and proper medical help. Bless the goddess for her and my NOW friends.

OK Down to facts… Aaron you know a whole lot more about human thoughts, feelings, wounds and mistakes.
We are carefully taught. Even without being aware it. You express this deep knowledge very well. And I may cry anyway. What you have given us today is aught ( 1 everything 2 anything) about humans. Thank you.

    Allgood thinks he is human
    Because he wears a tie
    He’s “still the same” (presumin’
    His body is a lie)

    Though “human” isn’t just
    The shape that you project
That tie would be a bust
    On “Oscar-with-no-neck”

    You can’t deny the forms
    That now comprise the crowd
Some crabs or fish, some worms
    Some subtle, some quite loud

    These aren’t just skin deep
    They change your habits, too
They don’t make you a creep
The “new” is part of you!

So allgood would badger and wear folks down to believe HIS purpose. But I guess he doesn’t see the hypocracy in his statements.

    ’Hanging’s too good for him!’

Or he is the one with the low self-esteem badgered into the cause by Velda. And inside, he knows this is true.

“Allgood in panel 4 reminds me of those who are afraid the “the Gay” can be taught to children in Boy Scout troops.”

Actually, I think this is closer to dealing with women that have been reluctantly talked into wife swapping by their husbands. Allgood is confronting Maude regarding ongoing behavior that she’s still not happy with herself about.

Ugh. I am really starting to hate this story line. I detest allgood, and I’m sure that’s Aaron’s intention, but I get enough of this from real world jerks. I don’t need this in something I read for entertainment.

Don’t confuse media propaganda and ideology for what is real. I’ve lived among them. It is quite true that the behavior is learned. It is also taught from one person to another. As a person who listened to them, it was clear that every one of them had either had something happen to them that had changed them, usually some event or condition. Some had broken the ability within them to be satisfied, going from practice to another, with homosexuality as merely one pebble in the stream. None of that is PC, but it is what exists.
Mr. Allgood is going about it wrong, but has anyone questioned the ultimate result of such “food production”? In most societies, it has ended in slavery. First, something is “expected” of a person, eventually it becomes a duty, and eventually the role is locked on the person. An extreme is India’s caste system, but the serfs of Europe and peasants of Asia are examples of the same thing. Slaves by any other name.

Actually, talking about “bestial behavior”, wait until Allgood goes after Walt for his “let’s play fishing” games. That will open an all new can of worms.

Dirty Old Lady, I’m sorry this story line is making you feel unhappy. I have the feeling it’s going to get more pressured before this is all over, and if it’s too intense, you may opt out. Endtown won’t always be happy or funny. It’s not meant to be nothing but escape from the troubles of the real world. Some comics are. This one is not.
Think of it as an inoculation against the real world’s troubles, sort of like singing the blues when your life is unhappy.
The lowest points of Endtown make me desperately unhappy, me as much as I’m sure they do to you. Or more accurately, they make me discontented with things that are wrong. They help me understand more clearly what is going on with people’s actions when bad things happen in our world, and in that way they help me adapt to them better, or understand, or cope or even improve things in the real world and create healing, thanks to that extra degree of knowledge Mr Neathery’s fine wisdom has revealed to me.
And when the injustices to the characters in the story seem just too extreme to bear, I can tell myself, at the end of all things, they are just lines on paper. Lines on paper.
And then I tell myself there are real people in the world with real feelings, suffering real hurt. And THAT is a hurt we can sometimes do something about.
