It's the End of Civilization as we know it. A mutagenic plague followed by a global war fought with disintegration weaponry has left much of the Earth a desert of fine powder and what remains of humanity fragmented into humans, animal-like mutants and bloodthirsty monstrosities with lots of teeth. The surface, still teeming with the mutagenic virus, has become the domain of the dreaded Topsiders; well-organized, technologically advanced, and heavily armed un-mutated humans sworn to exterminate mutations of any kind in order to clear the way for the eventual resurgence of a new, genetically clean humanity. Faced with annihilation, mutants and "impure" humans have retreated into the depths of the planet to form communities and hope to win, or at least survive, what may prove to be mankind's final war. Endtown is the continuing story of one of those communities.

A hupacrita was an actor/actress. Someone acting like someone or something else, not a believer in the role.
.
Today, of course, our media has changed “hypocrite” to being someone who isn’t perfect 100% of the time, something impossible in humanity. Snort.

Octavius doesn’t seem to have the courage of Velda’s convictions.

Who’s leading this organization and for what reason?
Faith for her is a tool to control him.
On another subject, but one related to the issue: When Maude took Linda out to eat she asked Linda what she had been eating. This caused Linda to scarf down the bowl of beans. What do Topsiders eat and was it what made Linda so easily accept the mutant milk and eggs?

Velda’s comment “slaves to the topsiders”implies she doesn’t know just how topsiders use mutants. Having my brain harvested for a mutt would be worse than slavery to me.

I agree with Mr Sherman..lack of knowledge of ALL the facts behind this circus is a very foolish way to start a action. It leads, we hope, to full disgrace of both …no all the clowns involved no matter where they are and who they are. Give me hope Aaron. I know you don’t give hints of what is to come but it is grating on my willing to fighting for them and leave you teasing us. I have spoken!!

As other people have asked, what are the questions in the polls? So far all we’ve seen Allgood get are the compiled results, not the raw data. He might be very surprised at what he learns.

@dirtyoldlady1
I wouldn’t worry DOL1, I’m sure Aaron knows how nice you are by now.

I think we see who controls whom. Velda is the power behind the power, with no real risk.
I wonder what they’re drinking. I’ve never heard of a bean-based alcohol liquor.

@mr_sherman
Topsiders eat preprocessed, liquified, low-ash food paste. That’s just a guess, but what else could they eat without taking off their suits?

Allgood is not all bad. He’s not trying to use physical force against people, he’s not interested in having “bloody minded jerks” behind him. And he’s not necessarily wrong about the poll numbers, either. The problem may be that he has too much faith in the sincerity of the people in his organization. A lack of faith may be a better thing.
Notice that he talks of prosecuting Holly and Linda. Perhaps he’s one of Endtown’s few lawyers. A zealot lawyer…

Since when? Also does it matter if people know what it actually means (majority of people obviously)?

That’s why he’s being pushed as the “face” of the movement. He’s not the head man, he only gets to thinking he is from time to time, and that’s when Velda pulls in the reins and reminds him of his proper place. I’m not convinced that she is necessarily in charge either. She may just be Allgood’s “handler”. The plot thickens… ;-)

I really hope I’m not opening up a can of worms here because most of us come to this website (not just this strip) to escape reality, if only for a moment, but Velda reminds me of one of those political “strategists” who are always popping up on talk shows…someone who sells themself as a kingmaker to the highest bidder.
There is an entire subclass of these people in politics (e.g., Karl Rove on the right and Jim Carville on the left) who make their livings by yanking the chains of their candidate du jour. Unfortunately, they occupy a place of power in society that they have not earned. Velda is such that a weasel is a very appropriate animal for her to have to mutated into.
