Holly’s a tough taskmaster. She’ll do a good job on Linda or else. I’d hate to be Linda if she doesn’t shape up.

@Veteran and all other post military friends…
I have a friend who’s in from out of town. This friend likes to sample unknown cuisine. While at the grocery store Cream Chipped Beef was discovered. I know nothing about it other than it was known as “Sh!# on a shingle” by military people. If you have any words of wisdom regarding this “delicacy”, I’d appreciate them.
    Thanks!

“Can’t take a joke.” snort. Mean/nasty is not a joke. Causing food in such an environment to be wasted is not a joke.

Captain Flash isn’t there now, so it might be a fair trial…

That “Pweeze” panel of Holly giving the puppy eyes would make a good t-shirt

    Surfstuff,
Basically it would be a poor mans version of biscuits and gravy except over toast. I don’t know how thick it would be from the jar and heated up. I would keep the salt, pepper and tabasco sauce handy. And something else to serve with it, just in case.
    Good luck. :-)

Thanks mr_sherman, biscuits were requested, and I think they will do better than toast. I’ll call it “Yankee Biscuits and Gravy” I learned about that wonderful dish when I lived in Alabama. Wish I’d learned to make the sausage/milk gravy properly.

i remembering eating this back when i was a kid. my mom served it on toast (the “shingle”) and, actually, it wasn’t too bad. it was filling, nourishing and cheap.

What do they do to Ex-Toppers?
    Linda will likely find out
    Her fights were nearly show-stoppers
And shortly her secret will out

    Holly’s not into pedantics
    Philosophy’s not where she’s at
    Pragmatic’s best for Linda’s antics
And acting to head off a spat

    An Endtown Holiday Wish

We’ve seen holiday bits on display
Showing up at the Endtown Café
    May good wishes and vibes
    Visit each of your tribes
And I’ll use this occasion to say:

Merry Christmas to all who observe
Even any or no faith will serve
    For enjoying Yuletide
    Is just what you decide
May you get everything you deserve

And of other faiths and celebrations
May they please those in rapt contemplations
Of the times of the past
    May your bright future last
And be ready with fast demonstrations

There were challenges during the year
But so far, we have made it to here
May I say in this letter
    Let next year be better!
May it bring peace and joy without fear

    And for fellow-folk-fans of Endtown
May good fortune for each here abound
    May I say without censure
    That on this adventure
The next year will likely astound!
