Anesthesia probably was used just to restrain her…not to spare her discomfort.

maybe they left her alone and she was able to make a run for it? that’s what I would do if I had just become a healthy young animal, full of a new wildness she never has known WE all have strong survival instincts, but usually in humans they are tamped down .

The way she’s looking at those scalpels makes me think she’s about to go into a frenzy and take some of the Topsiders down on the way out.

Drs hate it when the patient wakens in the middle of surgery, even more when the patient attempts to correct a mistake the surgeon is making. I told one surgeon to quit complaining about his wife and attend to the work of installing a Jewett Nail and sideplate. He still used the wrong size and it broke within three months.

I also awoke and told another surgeon installing an external fixator to my lower rt tib and fib, that he was putting a screw in a weak part of my foot and I had always been flatfooted, take off my left sock and look how flatfooted I was, and that was neither the proper time nor modality to give one of my feet an arch without addressing my hip structure. Both of those Drs lost their temper with me while operating on me. The 2d Dr ordered seven emergency anesthesias during one operation. I was right, the tarsal bone broke within a week leaving my EFD unanchored.

Usually surgeons will listen and occasionally take my advice, I had two great orthopedic surgeons who would appreciate my feedback during surgery when I was supposed to be under a general anesthesia, ie., unconscious. But anesthesiologists have to be careful not to overmedicate a patient to the point of not waking up from anesthetic.

Flask is looking at surgical tools. Drs really get upset if you try to use their tools to work on yourself. I just realised I have spent far too much time in the operating rooms of hospitals.

My wife woke up during an appendectomy to hear the anesthetist telling fishing stories. When he was told she was awake, he put her to sleep for the rest of the day.

“maybe they left her alone and she was able to make a run for it?”

She’s just spent how many days locked up in a dark pit, getting prodded, jabbed and zapped, and now she’s still loopy from knock-out drugs and missing part of her balance system? Run? She’ll be lucky to sit up without passing out.

Sounds like you and I are on the opposite ends of the scale. I have to tell the anethsetists to be sparing with it, or I won’t wake up for a very long time.
