Jenner’s just posted a new Endtown tribute in the Underdround forum. Go check it out!

    See, it was a trap!

TSOJ, you don’t think the Topsiders planted something in there, do you? An exploding bear would not be cool.

Philip K. Dick story – ‘second variety’ – really, really scary (and paranoid, of course)

It’s possible that it belonged to a mutant child before the Topsiders got to them.
Still it is refreshing to see Holly knowing how to put a positive light on a tragedy.

    Petey can relate.

Amnesia is a mixed blessing. You lose everything you had, but you’re also free from it.

Holly, you are a three foot bipedal mouse with a big heart.

Oh, to be able to forget some of the things I’ve done. . . But then, I’d have to forget some of the things done for me—and a lot of wonderful people. Not sure the trade-off is worth it. . .

Perceptor3 had a good idea. Maybe the Topsiders planted something in the bear. Only it could be a tracking device that will lead the Topsiders to Endtown.

I love how slender Holly’s hands look in the first panel. They look very human, so I can imagine a sort of graceful-looking woman she must have been before the mutilation. And her ears, when flopped back, always remind me of a nurse’s cap … ^^

I hope you meant “mutation”. “Mutilation” better represents Petey’s case. Actually, I commented to Aaron about Holly’s ears, too, and he said that it’s intentional.

It used to be a Major Matt Mason action figure until the mutagenic virus changed it into a teddy bear!

    Indeed, the expression on Petey
Shows the message here has been received
    Wally’s wise-but-diminutive sweetie
    Accidentally hits what he’s believed

He has bits of his past as a human
The name ‘Blackie’ rose from the deep past
But to us it’s a warning, presumin’
That we’ll learn about Petey at last

    For Oedipus, knowledge was tragic
When he learned of his rather odd history
As Holly works her tiny magic
    Petey thinks of unraveling mystery

“Maybe not,” he might think. “In the future
It won’t matter what I was before”
For those wounds, memory loss is a suture
But I’ll bet they’re about to get sore…

“Not knowing the past…leaving the future wide open,” referring to the bear but pertinent to an attentive Petey.
