Had to look up “Don Draper” in Wikipedia; have never seen Mad Men. But I lived through the era of the real deal, the Men in the Grey Flannel Suits, and as a Chicagolander am well aware of the Leo Burnett Agency. Luckies were never appealing, however, even back in the days when smoking was socially accepted. Rough for the poor Trick or Treaters….

well, to be sure. Most of the time Rod was on camera introducing his TZ episodes, he had cigarette going.
and the cartoon character in the strip, does have that Serling swarthiness (is that a word?)

Ah, if you remember the ad campaign, it was LSMFT.

We used to get them in candy form back in the 60’s. They had all the major brands in small boxes. Skinny chalky white sticks with a red painted end. No filters, the candy wasn’t very good either. They really tried to get us hooked young.

Back in the 1950s the candy cigarettes we got on Halloween had the logos & names of real cigarette brands. Tho this does remind me the Coneheads on SNL giving trick or treaters 6 packs of beer so they could consume mass quantities.

Could also be Edward R. Murrow, or even Humphrey Bogart. So many good people lost to tobacco use. How long before it’s finally seen as the ridiculous activity it is — sucking poisonous smoke from burning leaves through a paper tube? I see young people still doing it, despite all the warnings, and despair.
