Loved The Coasters.
If you are a fan, try listening to “Great Big Idol With The Golden Head” by the Coasters, if you want a laugh.
DJ’s couldn’t play it for years in the eighties. Too racist they said. See also "Stranded In the Jungle by The Cadets. That was the fifties as well.
I played in one of the first integrated bands in Washington, DC in the early sixties.
We took a lot of grief from people, especially at Ocean City, MD and UVA, W&L colleges during that time. More on another day.
