    had a friend in the Navy would never us cuss words, would say funny things like..squashed orange or soggy noodles, and I could never tell if he was mad or what.

    Not totally impossible; Endtown uses some mild profanity (and even that’s pushing past the envelope for some readers), but for the stronger curses, grawlix are still the rule there, as indeed they are on most comics pages.
