LOLz just change the sign to say “Drinking beer” instead of “Drinking coffee” and Eno’s good to go.

In New Orleans, we used to have a joke:

“What’s yellow and black and sleeps six?”
Answer: A Sewerage and Water Board truck.

So what’s the speed limit in the no work zone? Are speeding fines cut in half in those zones. and if you hit a non worker, does he go to jail or get the up to $14,000 fine?

Only “Next 6 miles”? On hwy 69/75 there has been bridgework, patchwork, resurfacing, bridge replacement, overpass bracing, and signal installation from the Red River to McAlester (80 miles) and McAlester to Muskogee (75 miles) for the last 10 years!

Your tax dollars at work(?). I see this so often, I’m surprised when anything gets finished.

Looks like Utah. Our state tree ought to be the orange barrel instead of the blue spruce.
Years ago they had a contest for the design of the state quarter. My submission was a picture of an orange barrel and the words “Road construction ahead. Alternate routing suggested.”

At the indoor pistol range I frequent, one of the targets they sell is a picture of a construction barrel.

Now that I actually work on construction sites, I understand the why. Sometimes they are lazy, and union requirements mean those workers are spending an hour a day on break, but often they are working, even if they don’t look like it, or concrete is late arriving, or something.

My job is mostly to test concrete and to make sure the contractor doesn’t add a bunch of water after my test. This often means I arrive half an hour before works starts, get set up, stand around for more than an hour because concrete’s late, test it in 15 minutes, watch and make sure that they are not doing anything wrong, then sitting in my truck and filling out lots of paperwork. Most of that I’m busy, but look like I’m loitering.
