    I went to Ocean View Amusement park as a kid (gone now), and the ride operateors were exactly like this. The louder the kids screamed to stop, the faster the ride went.

    By the way it had the scariest roller coaster I ever rode. It wasn’t all that big, but it was wood. The only restraints were a chain that clipped across your lap and could be unclipped at any time. There were a couple of people killed when they unclipped the chain and stood up during the ride. The coaster was blown up for a TV movie when I was in high school.
