    William Peter Blatty’s The Ninth Configuration had an astronaut confined to a Viet Nam psychiatric ward who referred to God as "Foot’. It also was IMHO Stacey Keach’s finest performance as Killer Kane, a misplaced Special Forces Marine sent Stateside as a psychiatrist due to a computer glitch. It had very serious dark religious overtones and is one of my favorite films because it was offbeat, serious, and made you think.

    I have watched it at least a dozen times (The Ninth Configuration) and that bar fight scene at the end of the film still gives me goosebumps.
