Why not, the ones currently occupying a given area no doubt acquired it by War and Slavery that was well established before Europeans arrived……..At least Drew has learned the fallacy of the “Native American”.

Right and we stole the empire state building from the Indians for just some beads.

Look up our aggression and the tyrannical forces that “gave” Hawaii to the United States. Brutal democracy in action.

The Spanish only wanted gold. The British went north and settled for tobacco and maize. Then they both stole the land, and executed the natives, the Spanish under the Inquisition, the English under those “Puritan” ethics of the dunking chair.

Maybe if Hawaii hadn’t had pineapples they’d have been saved?

Pineapples came from South America, Brazil and Paraguay, but Hawaii has ideal conditions for them to grow.

They did not execute the natives. They gave them those lovely modern (in those days) deceases that popped them off by the thousands.

So, you gibber in another language and then have it translated into English for your posts? Explains a lot.

Why is it the whites are always in the wrong did not Indians kill other indians and use them as slaves. Did not the africans raid other groups to sell them to the whites. I am sorry none of these things were right but all groups were doing it not just the whites. Why is it we remember slavery but forget about he unground railroad or the union soldiers that gave thier lives to free them.

Before I get to that, let me say that I’ve seen this panel before. Different words but the same drawing.
    .
    Ronald rini,
    .
I watched Lincoln the other day and I did come away with some of what you’re saying. Not the “everybody was doing it” part, but the part about the sacrifice that Union whites made.
    .
It was, and is EXTRAORDINARY that peoples of one race would go so far to help peoples of a different race. (See the extermination of the Jews, or the people of Darfur, or the Armenian genocide by the Turks etc etc etc ad nauseum).
    .
It is why America shines from the top of the highest hill (I’m no jingoistic blind patriot!) What other nation has the reputation for “To the Losers GO the spoils”? Was there EVER a nation that would have offered the Marshall Plan to friend and foe alike after the second (THE SECOND one, meaning they’d already done this once before!) World War?
    .
Amnesty to all and Malice towards none was an astounding start.
    .
As to the tribal stuff… The Africans wouldn’t have sold Africans into slavery if there wasn’t a market for the product, so that argument is moot.
    .
As to what the Northern Indigians were doing before we showed up… That’s just speculation, there is no written history from 1392. Yeah, the Aztecs were fierce, but the indians on the East Coast of the continent seemed to be too reasonable if anything.

The thing with the shining beacon on the hill is that Germany claimed the same, just when they were firing up the ovens. I fear for your country. Let’s hope i never have to fear your country…

Like I say, I am not a jingoistic American. Never have been. the only war in my liftime that i thought was justifiable was Afghanistan. Not the people of Afghanistan but the people do need to get rid of the taliban and move into the 18th century. Especially if they’re going to have access to 21st century toys.
    .
Overall I like what you have to say (except the Hurricane Sandy comments, timing was off) and I’m happy you like where you live.
    .
The USA is an enormously successful experiment. There is no other place on Earth like it. It makes mistakes when it makes itself ethnicly diverse. Ethnicity is the enemy of the future. Ethnicity wants us all to go back into the past.
    .
BTW: Ethnicity got a big shot in the arm from Woodrow Wilson. A major mistake, a wrong headed idea that was rooted in “good intentions” For all the right that he did, this spoils him for me.
    .
Nobdy compare to us in the number of industries that we have. Have no fear for our country. We’ve turned the corner and the bright light is shining in our faces again.
