    These guys pay La Pierre a million bucks a year to lobby for stupidity, and we wonder why his positions are always “extreme”?

    Yep, and unbeknownst to Drew, he makes a very good point FOR gun rights for those that are obeying the laws.

    It is not the gun but the guy who pulls the trigger.

    (12-19) 20:31 PST OAKLAND — A woman walking on a busy East Oakland street was shot and killed Wednesday night when she was hit by a stray bullet, police said.

    The victim, whose name wasn’t immediately released, was shot on the 9100 block of International Boulevard about 6:50 p.m. Witnesses reported hearing about five shots. The woman was not the intended target of the shooter, authorities said.

    @Bruce4671

    You sure about that? Cause we here in Florida hand out gun permits to the guys who pull “that trigger”.

    I know. I have one. I live in the Tampa area. So what’s your point? Permit or no permit, the problem is NOT the gun but the insanity that drives someone to conclude that the “right” thing to do today is to walk into a public area and start shooting. The permit process you are talking about is suppose to screen out those people.

    So the article you reference is not exactly correct. While the agency that issues the permit does not check for mental health issues, the process includes finger printing by the sheriff and a background check by the FBI. So, if they do not check the mental health issues, who is at fault?

    Florida also hands out disable parking permits to almost everyone in the state, making it almost impossible for a chair user in a van to find a parking space supposedly reserved for the disabled.

    So the finger printing and background check are to make sure you’re not a criminal, not a mental case. If you’ve seen the Virginia Tech killer, the Movie Theatre killer, and then the child killer, each was able to obtain a gun with a clean record, but not a single mental background evaluation has been done in these guys. So to answer your question its the politicians who don’t want to pass stricter gun laws to include a mental health evaluation. And if you want to take it a step further its our fault for electing these spineless cowards in the first place.

    ^but those are they type of gun control laws they want. INEFFECTIVE ONES. that allows them to point to the existing laws and say they don’t work. this republican tactic is as old as the hills.
