I think the Green Acres intro was inspired by the Grant Wood painting.

The “relation” thing is worse when you realize the woman in “American Gothic” is the suppose to be the guy’s daughter.

The models were the artist’s sister, and his dentist.

There was an episode of the Dick Van Dyke show, where they were at an auction, goofing around, ended up buying a painting of a clown. By some guy named Artanis. They noticed another bit of paint under it, carefully removed the clown, to reveal American Gothic. But not, as the couple had goofy smiles on their faces. Hey, maybe Wood was in a good mood or something, changed his mind…

As it turned out, the painting was worthless, but the clown one was valuable, due to the artist. Spell Artanis backwards: (Frank) Sinatra.

Even the stagehand calls her ‘Echo’?

Why not? It’s her name (or nickname). After all, he did call Norman by his first name. Or did you choose to miss that?
