I’ve lost wieght since I cut back on sodas. I drink water as munch as I use to. Even diet soda are bad for you.

@ Gator007: And if you can’t stand the taste of plain water, you can always dilute your sodas.

I’ve lost 45 lbs. since Dec. ’11 by simply giving up soda (from 235 to 190).

To save money I started drinking tap water with a shot or two of lemon juice. Now when I try and drink a soda it seems way too sweet.

Being from up north, the term “soda” caught me off guard. I live in “pop” land.Congrats on those who lost weight! Also don’t forge that t pop is acidic and dissolves your enamel.

Good for both of you. I don’t like pop to begin with and drink a lot of water.

I got addicted to Cola and it DESTROYED my teeth, I’m missing most of my molars and what’s left causes me excruciating pain daily! I cannot afford Dental insurance and I suffer for my stupidity accordingly. Worst part is I cannot stop, I have cut back drastically but still cannot quit.

Sodas are not good – the carbonation keeps your stomach inflated, leading you to eat more than you need to. Phosphoric acid damages your teeth. high-fructose corn syrup leads to diabetes. Caffeine in the large quantities contained in many sodas becomes addictive. I stopped drinking soda over five years ago. My son (28) just stopped drinking caffeinated sodas this year and finally gets some sleep (he’s been sleep deprived for 8 – 9 years from too much Mountain Dew and Dr. Pepper).

    Deth to soda companies!

Everybody’s different. I drink about a gallon of Diet Coke a day, and virtually never drink anything else. I feel great, and have no health problems. I’m 55, and have had this “lifestyle” for over 30 years.

If it harms you, don’t drink it. No need to try to start a crusade against it, though.

Yep, I grew up in Mississippi in the 60s/70s and had no idea what was meant by “pop” or “soda” (except baking soda).

@ le-Roy……I did not know diet coke was out since 1980…..
also, about a gallon a day of anything is a heck of a lot……

No, I didn’t start with Diet Coke, I switched from regular Coke to Tab in ’78, went to Diet Dr. Pepper later, and finally Diet Coke.

Yes, a gallon IS a lot – I’m the most hydrated person I know (myths about caffeine-dehydration notwithstanding).
