    “I wonder, where can she be?”

    Why didn’t she call her cell phone?

    @too-zonked
    Then, she would be calling 20 years into the future.

    How old are you, too-zonked?

    You ever hear of “dialing” a number, and wonder what that means?

    Unfortunately, by starting this on a Thursday, they’ll either have to skip a strip, or have it interrupted by an unrelated Sunday strip before the punchline.

    I remember this arc. It’s worth the wait. GT knew his characters so well.

    You know those toy Fisher-Price telephones, with the googly eyes and red plastic receivers?

    Little kids today don’t know what those are supposed to be. They have never seen a telephone that looks like that. To them, telephones are plastic black rectangles with screens on the front and have never looked any different.

    My nephew is 30 and has no clue what clockwise and counter-clockwise mean.

    This is the strip from Nov 11 1976. You can set the date back to that day and follow it to see how it plays out just in case they jump to another story arc

    I hope I did not cross a line between making a dumb joke and appearing to troll. Not a good week for me in this space.

    No offense taken. It is just that us old folks get a bit annoyed when youngsters cop an attitude indicating no understanding of or appreciation for “the good old days” which were not always so great.

    @sueb: I don’t think my grandkids would like pulling a cell phone around the room on a rope.
