    In some comic strips, the characters may age for a few years and then stop (e.g.: “Blondie”). The timeline for “Doonesbury” has always been very variable; for Alex it has it seems it has sped up. Apparently in less than three years Alex has gone from high school to graduating MIT, working on a doctorate, working on high level projects, and now having a fast-track pregnancy. Talk about a child prodigy.
