    Yes, they did but also CERN scientists too were involved in the final formation of the global Internet.

    DARPA created DARPANet, which eventually grew into the Internet.

    @Linguist

    She coded up myVulture.com when she was like 11.

    @Night-Gaunt49: No. Tim Berners-Lee (CERN dude) speced out http creating the www, but that’s just an application on the Internet.

    Al Gore said he voted for the funding to DARPA that resulted in the internet. He never said that he invented the internet.

    Unfortunately the Right wing will never believe the facts of the matter, just as they don’t believe much if it isn’t issued by the Fox Entertainment Network.

    Excuse me, before anyone gets upset, I mean the reactionary right, not the right as a whole.

    Funny old world – the combined genius of US defense scientists and European physicists allows people across the world to comment on cartoons.

    Good observation, but don’t forget to mention instantaneous shopping and auctions, scams, extreme political rants, porn, cute cat videos, and thousands of other things we didn’t even know we needed back in 1990. Plus the ever-popular Benghazi-gate, of course.

    If I remember correctly, the first time I took the internet seriously was when I saw pictures of the “tank man” in Tiananmin Square.

    Y’know, somehow I find the coin-operated washers/dryers in the laundromat easier to use than these new fangled machines with a zillion settings.

    Didn’t DARPA invent something awesome? Probably dozens of somethings, but we’ll never know about them for another couple of decades.
