    I’ll have a look at the 40 year book when I get home, but I suspect the issue is that Joanie and Rick won’t have aged prior to the 1984 break, but JJ (as a child) probably did. However, Wikipedia says she described herself as born in 1938 – look for the article that is just about her.

    Of course, if you remember the early years, Roland was an incredibly gullible nincompoop who thought a lilac bush grew the best weed at Walden, and the students did “Peyote and Clam Dip!”

    They met in the late 1980s I’d say. He was probably in his late 40’s and described her in one of his articles as “thirtysomething”. She was working for Lacy Davenport’s campaign. Then of course we recall that they had this baby boy who is so good as a writer but not much as a CIA agent. Cheers
