"Garry Trudeau is the premier American social and political satirist of his time." -Newsweek Doonesbury has managed to be articulate, abrasive, political, compassionate, misunderstood, misprinted, and outrageous - but one thing it's never been is complacent. Garry Trudeau's creation has chronicled American history and culture in a parallel universe. And through it all, Doonesbury has always been honest, entertaining, and thought-provoking.

Might as well export the dream along with the jobs.
HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!!!

To all the commentators on either side of the strip, I wish you all a very happy and safe Fourth of July. Independence didn’t come cheap but it can be lost by cheap thinking.

Happy Fourth! We still have Doonesbury- The Great American Comic Strip to be thankful for.

Too bad we can’t export the CEOs instead of the jobs.

@simpsonfan2
Would the CEOs be as effective located in China creating jobs as they are here in the USA creating jobs . . . in China?

I know comics strips are fiction, but it’d be nice if they weren’t libelous:

The Founding Fathers believed in high tariffs on imported goods.

The National Review describes itself as a “magazine and web site for conservative news, commentary, and opinion.” It was founded by William F. Buckley, Jr., for heaven’s sake …

It seems a waste to outsource jobs to China when—thanks to liberals—we already have job-killing regulations and high corporate taxes here.

Well said, neighbor. Happy Fourth.

Most of the founding fathers were also slave owners. Many right-wingers are now trying to rewrite history books to remove this inconvenient fact.

I mentioned a couple of days ago that “Mallard Fillmore” is occasionally funny. Today’s is a hilarious commentary on the state of literature in 21st Century America. Recommended to all who are literate.
