ONLY an American (los norteamericanos) would resent teachers because they have chosen a career that values time above money.

The “deserving rich” (a GT oxymoron) hate the way teachers act like aristocrats who are masters of their leisure. (The Greek word “schole” = leisure.)

I still think Sorkh Razil’s caller is more likely to be a Teapublican than the King of Bahrain (even the Arabs respect their Wahhabi teachers).

I’m disappointed. Not because I don’t agree with the posts so far. I do. I just wanted another good rattling adventure yarn in some imaginary dictatorship overseas.

And suddenly, the right-wingers who usually come to insult Trudeau go silent…

$100.000? You’re talking about middle management, not CEO’s. Add a few more zeros to that.

Maybe Red Rascal can sabotage the recall elections in Wisconsin! He screws up, of course. And all the reich-wing legislators are recalled. But maybe that’s not realistic.

And why, Pink Unicorn, do you think this is the case?

Er, you don’t believe that GT’s political slant invites attack? Oh, freedom of the press, as long as you own the press.
You say “right wing” as if it were an insult. Weren’t the right the ones who saved you for 50 years from nuclear annihilation from the left. We are talking about the left, annihilated tens of millions in the 50s? The same left who pounded their shoe in the UN and said they would destroy us. Or are you talking about longhairs with flowers and drugs? There is an island and a peninsula that practice this left. Bon Voyage.

I don’t want teachers paid like bankers and stockbrokers. If they were, the profession would attract too many greedy, unscrupulous, self-serving, egoistic people. They should be paid enough to attract hard-working and talented young people into the profession and keep them there. As it is, they are often paid just enough to attract an adequate supply of warm bodies to occupy desks. Fortunately, in spite of that, there are many, many fine teachers.

But there are those who think it unjust that they should be taxed to pay for their neighbor’s kids’ educations. In the every-man-for-himself world, people have no responsibility toward anyone in the next generation, but their own kids … and then ONLY if their own kids DESERVE it.
