Trudeau may have been one of the first writers to show married people in bed together in the comics, and he also influenced other comic writers.

In fact, Joanie Caucus and Jeff Redfern were shown toegther in bed b4 they got married. Oy, the Bourgeois was shocked. That union led to the birth of Jeff, who’s now on his way to the Shores of Tripoli.

I can remember Dagwood and Blondie in bed together way back in the 70’s, but even before that, Fred and Wilma were seen in bed on national TV.
As for unmarried couples in bed in the comics, the only one that comes to mind on a regular basis is Jane’s World, but I think I’ve also seen it once in Liberty Meadows.

^ I’m afraid I’ve done the same to friends. Sometimes it is hard to remember that time difference until the phone rings. I liked it better when the Earth was flat and the Sun came up and set at the same time wherever you were.

My hat’s off for Sunday’s satire on Brian Williams in Doonebury. I sent a note to NBC Nightly News urging that Brian stop acting like an MC at a testimonial dinner and more like a professional newsman. Keep up the good work
