    It’s not that he realizes that he’s a loser, it’s that he realizes that other people think he’s a loser. A subtle but important difference.

    Jeff has actually had a very impressive life-experience - Class President at school, college graduate (even though it was only Walden,) CIA internship - for his age. Meanwhile, Dad drifts along like the other Walden losers, pretending to be a blogger.

    @davidblack, you do have a point. Chaotic as it is, at least Jeff has career goals and works the system hard to achieve them. He’s not your typical “helicopter generation” kid… as this discussion with dad illustrates, he resents having choppers around to tell him what to do (explains much, perhaps).
