Not sure about the gunner. The officer is B.D.’s buddy Ray (I think I got the name right) and he’s still around in Iraq scenes. Seems like it should be time for him to cycle home, though.
G.T. is out of ideas and he doesn’t have the balls to take on Obama. I may not continue following this strip. He is out of date, out of touch. Stick a fork in him. He is so done…
It’s awfully conservative of GT to repeat strips regularly like this. “Peanuts” is in reruns, but at least Charles Schultz has a good excuse. I’m Hoping for a Change soon.
However, methinks that Garry is repeating this particular strip in the wake of Obama’s “sink or swim” decision he’ll have to make… at the moment, he’s just treading water while the sharks are circling. It’s sort of like MAS*H reruns being popular during Bush’s administration. This is Garry’s subtle way of nudging the administration into getting out of Afghanistan.
Toggle was actually using a non-sequitur remark about the credit cards.
Toggling with computers and related gadgets has to do with being able to switch forth and back (a better way to say that expression) while doing several tasks at once.
The word “toggle” was borrowed from the name of a single switch that one moved back and forth to turn something off and on.
Some Vietnam Veterans posted comments yesterday after I mentioned my own experiences in the war zone.
While I never saw anyone killed or even wounded in my presence while I was in South Vietnam, I did miss seeing several wounded some even killed at the Chu Lai Marine air strip by about 30 minutes.
When I was with the Staff Judge Advocate Section of the 196th Light Infantry Brigade, I was in the advance party that left Tay Ninh and went to Chu Lai. I was standing behind the officers and the other clerk of the section and the load master put them on one plane and he put me on the one behind it.
Their plane left about 5 minutes before the one I was on took off. But, the one I was on arrived at Chu Lai 30 minutes before the other one did. As we arrived, we were taken outside of the West perimeter of the air base to wait out the rest of the night.
The rest of the SJA Section staff did not immediately leave the air strip after they got off the plane. That because there was a mortar attack by VC who had entered the South end of the base.
When we went back to the strip to pick up our personal gear, the head officer pointed to blood on the ground where he had held an infantry man who had been fatally wounded.
I have no idea why it took 30 minutes longer for the other plane to arrive and as far as I know, they never made any stops either.
Garry could retire at any time after the career he has had.
I’ll take the reruns every now and then as long as he keeps putting out the new work too?
Who else is still this good after this long?

The American entrepeneurial spirit is alive and well.
Hawg: don’t sweat it – Garry’s probably just taking a vacation.

Toggle’s shake of the cosmic dice got him wounded and Alex. Every day, if you get out of bed alive, there’s another roll happening.

You guys remember that Toggle survived, but what happened to the officer and the gunner?

No, I thought he was driving some colonel during the bombing?

@BobMcK:
Good-bye. There will still be many regular viewers of this strip–reruns or not.

No I think this is his reminder that we have citizens in harms way every day and we tend to forget about them.

Why the discrimination against Discover card carriers, though?

Joe Allen Doty - I think Trudeau was using Toggle as in toggling a playlist in an MP3 player.
jimpow said, 28 days ago
Toggle refers to the passenger as “Top.” He is not an officer, he is the First Sergeant. An enlisted man would refer to an officer as “Sir.”

GBT must be taking a break.
I wonder if he decides which series to re-run or if someone else gets to make that call.
Just curious.

I’m glad for the reruns. I hadn’t met the Toggle character before he was wounded.

Garry probably just missed the posting deadline - gocomics does a week’s worth of reruns if that happens.
