(cont. from yesterday) The Thanksgiving episode of WKRP was indeed the one to which I referred with the Nessman quote, “Oh, the humanity!” Richard Sanders studied the Hindenburg tapes to get the intonation correct.

The first season is available on DVD–with certain changes forced by their inability to get music rights on some songs. Season 2 is still in limbo, struggling with music permissions.

My apologies for the topic hijack, if this qualifies as a topic hijack.

Love the third panel, as Roland’s smug little smirk congeals as the deafening silence from his alleged fans briefly imposes a glancing awareness of reality upon him.

4deer, please don’t worry about the “hijack” thing…. speaking for myself, your commentary is relevant and quite enjoyable. I think its right in venue. I, however, had remembered that eopisode being done with frozen turkeys instead of or as well. am I incorrect?

@JonD17: Nope, it was live turkeys. Another beautiful quote from that episode was “I really thought they could fly!” You can also watch them on hulu.com, by the way.

people do get tired of shows, and it’s hard to continually come up with new ideas (ask any of the creators whose work we read on this site). after they’ve gone away, we tend to wonder what we ever saw in them and not miss them, or the nostalgia kicks in and we miss them terribly. all the best ones run their course and are then missed.

Maaggie, you’re pretty close, but it was “As God is my witness, I thought turkeys could fly.” An all-time great line.

Wasn’t it “With God as my witness, I thought turkeys could fly.”

right off the bat they started conjecturing on how much lateral progress would a dropped chicken make before it hit the deck.the general consensus, assuming calm conditions, was about 3/4 of a klik.

Where is all the political satire, GT?
Is the Obamination overwhelming you with material–or is your reality sinking in?

Mitt Romney and Lindsay Graham (R - SC) were on Meet the Press this morning. They both waffled around about Mark Sanford for a while, and then they both pretty much admitted that Obama’s doing OK on Iran. Then the remarkable part - Graham actually said the President’s doing a REALLY GOOD job of setting an example by being a good father and husband.

    Not much satire fodder, eh?

Another liberal ploy–pick and choose. Big deal, he set’s a good example as a father–whoopy–so did Bush, but he never got credit for it.
13trillion dollar deficits, TARP money no one knows what happened to, near double digit unemployment, soon to come double digit inflation along with higher and higher interest rates, and throw in entitlement insolvency such as Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security; not to mention nationalization of the auto industry, the finance industry and soon to be the medical industry–how’s that for satire fodder.
GT has neither the courage nor the intelligence to satirize Obama; as all the liberal media (by their own admission) continues to look the other way.

And, just to set the record straight about Obamination’s Iran response, he said nothing until pushed to say something by the republicans. As usual, a liberal stays on the sideline until “public opinion” dictates his resonse. Obama is a political coward who has waffled and outright lied on almost every issue put before him, just give him time and he will hang himself.
