Does Alex’s continued contempt of her mom strike anyone else as a bit unrealistic? From what I’ve seen, a girl – especially one as young as Alex was when her mom left – would alway look up to her mom no matter what kind of loser the mom is. And the mom’s absence would only make the kid idealize her more.
Seems realistic to me that Alex resents her mother. After all, she wasn’t completely absent to leave only visions in her place. She kept turning up like a bad penny.
Let’s see; JJ seems to perpetually be dwelling of-late with nogoodnick Zeke Brenner, whom Alex may never have liked. I can see the reason she resents her mum.

plus4 - in a word, no. Seems realistic enough to me.
And on a different subject - YAY! I love those two together. It’s sweet, cute, and what-have-you. Just one of those random things.

plus4-
a) kids don’t always look up to their parents, whether the parents are present or not, and
b) the parents, whether present or not, don’t always deserve to be looked up to.

More on technical seasons in yesterday's comments, if anybody cares. (I won't inflict them here.)
