Did anyone see today’s print copy of The Washington Post? Apparently, they messed up big-time in printing this week’s reruns, and had to print the past 3 days worth of Doonesbury. They were the same 3 that we’ve had here. Interesting coincidence, wouldn’t you say? NOT!
I tried to buy the final edition of the Rocky this morning when I got off work this morning. Every machine was empty. Every convenience store was out. I was lucky enough to get to City News in Loveland, CO 15 minutes before they opened. There were 10 of us in line by the time they opened the doors and they only had 20 copies. By the time I paid for mine and left, they were out. If there had been this much interest in the paper every day they wouldn’t have had to close up
Cleveland still has The Plain Dealer, but lost the Press (afternoon paper) in 1982. I occasionally have dreams in which the Press is resuming publication, or “never really stopped” but just prints a select few copies each day for “insiders”.
G.B. Trudeau’s Doonesbury is currently in its thirty-ninth year, tracking its eighth presidential administration. Trudeau maintains his studio in New York and his Web presence at www.doonesbury.com.
