Actually, before Ronald Reagan, you could always expect conservatives to be polite. Barry Goldwater was a gentleman. Now, well bell3rose1a, you have a point.
Bell3rose1a, let me put it this way: how many reports have you heard this month about White House computer keyboards missing the letter “O” ? Oh, not one?
Or how many times before Jan 20,2009, did you hear the phrase, “I did not vote for him, but for good or ill he is my president and though I disagree with much of what he will propose and implement as our chief executive, I wish him Godspeed”? Nuh-uh, I didn’t think so.
How many White House chiefs-of-staff stuck out their tongue and waggled their fingers at the “losers” between Jan 20, 2000 and Jan 19, 2009.
Now, who has displayed more dignity, respect and self-control? So, yes, I do expect more of the same.
Sure, it’s easy and fun to join the bandwagon and toss out baseless insinuations, but have you ever stopped to ask yourself, “Why are they saying this?” Or “Why am I saying this?” Or even just, “Wait. What???”
It will do all of us some good to stop and think once in a while.
I think treblemaker has a valid point. After G-Bu’s incoming team fabricated a story about removed keys, cut wires, graffiti, ‘porn bombs’, and all other manner of awful Democratic vandalism and the report was issued debunking it, the only member of the Highly Liberal Media to offer a meaningful retraction was Fox News.

treblemaker you are so right. We may be haveing a little of a hard time but it is hard to be polite when we are accused of being bigots everytime we disagree with the liberals. I honestly beleive we are more open minded.
bell3rose1a You just discriped the Clinton years. Like ignoring 7 attacks on U.S interests that led up to 9/11.

Jack, that doesn’t even seem coherent. “We’re not rude,” you say, “because [unrelated lie].”
Oh and here’s what we mean. Admittedly, this comes from a media personality, but Cheney and others in the administration tried to give the same impression: “The people who now doubt whether or not Saddam really has WMD programs, chemical and bacteriological, in particular, are really of two types, either they work for Saddam or they’re doing a human imitation of an ostrich. There really are, I think, no other possibilities.”
Does anyone know why conservatives here keep crying, “WAA”?
I find most of Trudeau irrelevant and sophoromic. I would skip him but for the comic attempts of the other sophomores to defend him.
sooo… can we then hypothesize that insulting all the sophomores here makes you a junior or better yet a senior riding far far above eveyone else?
G.B. Trudeau’s Doonesbury is currently in its thirty-ninth year, tracking its eighth presidential administration. Trudeau maintains his studio in New York and his Web presence at www.doonesbury.com.

treblemaker … do really want answers to those questions ?

treblemaker, bell3rose1a did not call out the white house as the limit of the example.
If the range is “all conservatives” then it extends to people down the street, folks at work, the talking heads on television.
Within the context of the ‘toon its possibly limited to congress (Clyde is in congress- right?) where there is a lack of manners all over.
Nemesys said, 9 months ago
Methinks the point Trudeau is making is that political correctness paranoia trumps manners these days.
bellrose1a’s kneejerk slam proves his point perfectly.

Some comments are so sophomoric, they really detract from from the relevant
comments and Garry’s commentary.

You are so right, Fly Guy. Intelligent conservative minds would be fun to engage. We keep not getting any here.
