Funny thing is, I’ve never heard an Obama supporter refer to him in messianic terms or call him a savior of any kind.
He’s just a man, who we hope will do a good job.
Are those who oppose him so afraid that he will do a good job that they feel the need to create an environment of unrealistic expectations?
You clowns seem to forget the story lines with Mark Slackmeyer’s father personifying Wall Street/corporate arrogance and chicanery before Congress and elsewhere. You may remember that they robbed us blind in the Raygun 1980s and thereafter.
I suspect we’ll see Daddy Warbucks Paulson, Rummy and those guys explaining their malfeasance. That’ll do just fine for now.

I agree, W is done can’t an won’t be elected for anything TG! His “advisors” are free to corrupt the next lacky republican they can convince that they walk on water. Talk about a messiah complex the GOP has played that card forever.
“Excuse me, the President didn’t acidentally become a two term Govenor of Texas.”
The great uniter governed a stae where the legislature met every other year for a max of 140 days per year…his “legacy” in texas was uniting a group of lawmakers for a little over 400 session days (when they could do something). Give me a break! What a waste (lives time and money) of 8 years!
mlevinsongocomics: You are correct. Bush wasn’t accidentally elected Texas governor twice. No, not an accident. It was a mistake. My fellow Texans chose a folksy “good-ole-boy” instead of someone who had a clue. Unfortunately, the nation then followed suit.
This strip could have been done half a year ago, with every occurrence of “Caroline Kennedy” replaced by “Al Franken.”
Personally I’m more concerned about ideology and talent than experience. Every legislator deals with so many different types of issues that most are bound to fall outside the realm of personal experience. The Founding Dads had in mind a government where common sense would be sufficient for elected office.
G.B. Trudeau’s Doonesbury is currently in its thirty-ninth year, tracking its eighth presidential administration. Trudeau maintains his studio in New York and his Web presence at www.doonesbury.com.

Once Inauguration Day arrives and the angels descend from heaven and the world becomes perfect, what WILL Trudeau have to write about?
Albany58 said, 10 months ago
So, that’s your prediction of what’s going to happen on inauguration day.

Probably two more years of the Palin farewell tour.

Recognizing the sarcasm and all, but…
Trudeau is a creative & flexible guy. Topic-wise, I suspect he’ll just mostly stay away from the White House for the next 4 years.

I’m just glad it was Sully instead of Joe the Plumber flying that Airbus A320 out of La Guardia.
There’s something to be said for having someone well-prepared and well-qualified on the job…

Doctortoon, I think it’s the othe way around. I think Obama’s SUPPORTERS have created unrealistic expectations.
His opposers have NO expectations. I HOPE he is successful…but I don’t think he will be.
