President Clinton: (Incredible...another cover-up story! Why is it so easy to look guilty?) You know what really hurts, David? These endless "cover-up" stories! How do we ever shake this idea that we're hiding something about Whitewater? David Gergen: Well, sir, there's not much we can do - except become incredibly circumspect about how we conduct business here... before every call, every meeting, you have to ask yourself, "What's the worst possible spin that could be put on this", then imagine the headline and decide if you can live with it. President Clinton: But, David, that's nuts! There's no way I can live like that and continue to function! David: Sir, it's a matter of survival. If you don't... White House secretary: Excuse me, Mr. President, but you're late for your lunch with the First Lady. J.J.: "Clinton, in secret lunch with wife, may have discussed inappropriate subjects." Mike: Boy, he just doesn't learn, does he?
