They “have no backbone” because they do not speak up for themselves or for others when wrong decisions are being made.

And they start to look a little elephantine.

Not that the Repubs have any more backbone themselves.
“I’m sorry Mr. Limbaugh, PLEASE don’t trash me out on the air any more. I’ll take back what said, oh pleeeeeease!”

Neither party has a backbone–it is all what will get me reelected-“I will change my ‘position’ daily if need be”

A “blue dog” is a democrat who votes his/her conscience and or constituents best interest and not the party line. Thank God for them.
motivemagus said, 5 months ago
No, a blue dog is a Democrat who votes with the Republicans. Period. Oldlegodad, you are not entitled to claim that the Democratic party stands are incompatible with conscience. And many “blue dogs” voted with the Bushies because they were too cowardly to vote their conscience or the beliefs of their constituents (e.g., torture), so that’s the exact reverse of your view.

I thought blue dog Democrats were the fiscally conservative, socially liberal ones.

That too. Best interest of their constituents.

Republicans lost their Backbone in 1996.
Andy, Get a Clue, Clinton failed to pass UHC in 1993, the Demorats would not go along with his scam. Pay Attention Son, the Democrats are not going along with Obama’s Scam Healthcare Plan.

“I thought blue dog Democrats were the fiscally conservative, socially liberal ones.”
It’s not “fiscally conservative” to vote to keep wasting hundreds of billions of dollars on a futile attempt to conquer Iraq and Afghanistan.
Right_On said, 5 months ago
Nor is it “fiscally conservative” to spend billions on banks but let the auto industry fail.
This administration is a joke.
DrCanuck said, 5 months ago
This adminstration has saved the entire American economy from collapsing. The stimulus packages are working.
As similar packages are saving the economies in Europe, Canada, China, Russia…..
motivemagus said, 5 months ago
Right_On, Bush spent billions on the banks, and Obama is trying to save the auto industry. Got it backwards.

@ DrCanuck,
I hope to h’ll WE didn’t finance those also. CHINA has a problem with their economy??????????

Arlen Specter is becoming a “blue dog”, right-wing values joining the Democrats to get re-elected.
DrCanuck said, 5 months ago
norml’, the WORLD has a problem with its economy; the collapse in the states had a domino effect. China got clobbered badly as America stopped buying so much from them.
But no, the States isn’t providing stimulus packages to anyone else (breathe easy there, big fella), but all other countries are pumping money into their markets and industries as Obama is, and it is slowly starting to turn itself around as confidence is building.

Blue Dog democrats are supposed to be fiscally conservative and socially liberal. They do tend to exist because they represent their constituents. Take Gilibrand for example. She was a blue dog democrat when she was in NY’s state gvt. coming from a somewhat conservative district. We don’t have many full conservative districts in NY. However, upon entering the U.S. senate she seems to have lost all of her supposed Blue Dog principles. This comic is not just applicable to people who become Blue Dogs.

LBJ said, when signing the Civil Rights Act of 1964 that he was giving the South to the GOP for a generation. Now the Blue Dogs are coming back and the GOP is waning in DIXIE (Reagan Country). I can live with Dumocrat congresses with blue dogs and GOP Presidents….Checks and Balances.

Wright wants us to meddle in another countriy’s internal affairs. Does he not remember the Kent State massacre and the Chicago police mayhem at the Democratic Convention? How would we have felt if other countries meddled in our affairs at that time? Some people just love to agitate and start wars.
